ResearchMy research interests include but are not limited to utilization of satellite data from both active microwave sensors (altimeters, scatterometers, imager) and passive optical sensors (ocean color, and sea-surface-temperature). In addition to using remotely sensed data to study ocean dynamics I have also been using these data sets to both force and validate numerical model simulations using the University of Miami's Isopycnic Coordinate Ocean Model (MICOM) and Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) OGCM. Recently I have begun experimenting with the addition of a Nutrient-Phytoplankton-Zooplankton-Detritus (NPZD) ecosystem model coupled to the NRL Costal Ocean Model (NCOM) to study plankton dynamics.
