This REU program focuses on understanding how high latitude glaciers, melt-water streams, and sedimentation in lakes and fjords respond to changing climate. Six undergraduate students will be selected each year . Students will formulate their own research questions, develop their project, and complete their field research during a five-week program in Svalbard, Norway. After the completion of the summer program, students will complete their projects at their home institution during the following academic year as a senior thesis. A spring symposium will bring all participants back together again with their final results.
