American Association of University Women

One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women, the AAUW Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented. Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship

The Hertz Foundation provides unique financial and fellowship support to the nation’s most remarkable Ph.D. students in the physical, biological and engineering sciences.

Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships

The Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships seek to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. To facilitate this goal the Fellowship grants awards at the Predoctoral, Dissertation and, Postdoctoral levels to students whom demonstrate excellence, a commitment to diversity and, a desire to enter the professoriate.

The Link Foundation
Doctoral Research Fellowships in Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation. The Link Foundation will award several $25,000 doctoral research fellowships per year to candidates enrolled in academic institutions in either the United States or Canada.

McKnight Doctoral Fellowship
Florida Education Fund

The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program is designed to address the under-representation of African American faculty at colleges and universities in Florida by increasing the pool of African American citizens qualified with Ph.D. degrees to teach at the college and university levels.

NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program

The NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program (GSRP) awards fellowships for graduate study leading to masters or doctoral degrees in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering related to NASA research and development.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship

The Program seeks to identify individuals whose scientific and engineering credentials will support study culminating in doctoral degrees. The primary goal of the Program is to provide the United States with talented, doctorally-trained American men and women who will lead state-of-the-art research projects in disciplines of greatest benefit to national defense.

National Science Foundation -- Minority Graduate Fellowships

Seniors or recent graduates who have not begun graduate study may apply for the NSF Minority Graduate Fellowship. Minority Fellowships are available to the following ethnic groups: Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Black/African Americans, Latino/a, Chicano/a, or Native Pacific Islanders. NSF Fellowships for graduate study leading to research-based master's or doctoral degrees apply to mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, behavioral, and social sciences. Students who pursue advanced degrees in the history and/or philosophy of science also qualify for this award.

NOAA -- Graduate Sciences Program

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Graduate Sciences Program is designed to increase underrepresented minority participation and collaboration in NOAA-related sciences across institutions, particularly historically minority institutions. The interchange of research opportunites involves students as well as faculty members, and accepted project proposals will be directly connected to fulfulling NOAA's mission statement.

NOAA -- Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding scholarship and encourages independent graduate level research -- particularly by female and minority students -- in oceanography, marine biology and maritime archaeology. Those eligible to apply are United States citizens currently pursuing or intending to pursue a masters or doctoral level degree in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology, including the curation, preservation, and display of maritime artifacts. Studies must be conducted on a full-time basis.

Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) and its partner, the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), announce the Fellowship Program for 2007, designed to promote training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans. This fellowship program is open to scientists, technicians, graduate students (PhD) and Post Doctoral Fellows involved in oceanographic work at centers in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

Mortar Board Honor Society Scholarship

USC Baccalaureate Degree recipients or graduating seniors expecting to begin graduate or professional study at USC in the summer or afll, as well as current USC graduate or professional school students, may apply for the Mortar Board Fellowship. The Mortar Board ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service are the criteria for these fellowships. All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need will only be a criterion when candidates are equally qualified. The fellowships may only be applied to graduate study at the University of South Carolina.

National Estuarine Research Reserve Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The Estuarine Reserves Division of NOAA is soliciting applications for graduate fellowship funding within the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The program is designed to fund high quality research focused on enhancing coastal zone management while providing students with an opportunity to contribute to the research or monitoring program at a particular reserve site. Students are required to work with the research coordinator or reserve manager to develop a plan to participate in the research or monitoring program for up to 15 hours per week. Minority students are encouraged to apply to eligible institutions.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Future Engineering Faculty Fellowship Program

This fellowship program is designed to develop and attract qualified engineering faculty to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with engineering programs. Each year, three recipients who have agreed to join the engineering faculty of an HBCU after receiving their degrees are competitively selected for study and research support leading to doctoral degrees in engineering. Applications are especially encouraged from women, underrepresented minorities and persons with disabilities.
